Showcasing queer South Korean art, literature, & film
K-QUEER celebrates the vibrant yet often overlooked world of queer Korean creativity.
While K-culture has gained global fame, the lives and stories of South Korea’s LGBTQI+ community remain largely limited. Discrimination persists across society, and many queer Koreans still face barriers to visibility, acceptance, and legal protection including no Anti-discrimination Law.
> “I cannot support homosexuality.” - Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul
> “The anti-discrimination law contradicts the biblical worldview and creative order that God created for men and women.” - Ahn Chang-ho, Chairman, National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK)
Recent developments, including recognition of same-sex partners under national health insurance, and the inclusion of same-sex couples residing together in the 2025 census signal meaningful but gradual progress.
Founded to bring often overlooked narratives into the open, K-QUEER creates space for dialogue, creativity, and understanding. Its first edition, Intimacies of the Invisible (Dec 2025 - Jan 2026), explores the experiences and representations of gay South Korean men through film screenings, an exhibition, and an author talk, inviting audiences to engage with stories of identity, resilience, and love.
